Join us in the IEA Wind Task 43 space on the WeDoWind platform - and contribute to the new IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge!

Dear wind energy colleagues,

The members of the IEA Wind Task 43 invite you to actively take part in the task by interacting with us on the new WeDoWind platform, which allows goal-oriented collaboration based on real industry challenges. The mission of IEA Wind Task 43 is to help bring about a revolution in the way the wind energy industry uses technology, by providing a platform for dissemination of great ideas, best practices and collaboration.

The first challenge in the space is the IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge. We invite everyone in the wind energy community to jointly take part in this challenge, which aims to propose standard metadata schemas and related semantics for sharing data in the wind energy sector.

Do you share our vision that a collaborative wind energy community sharing data is needed to speed up the innovation process in wind energy? Do you believe that in the ongoing digital transformation of the wind energy sector the amount of generated data offers extraordinary opportunities if readily available to everybody? Do you agree that data sharing needs an efficient data management based on standard metadata schemas and related semantic jointly agreed throughout our community?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

The challenge is split into three parts:

  1. Summarise and evaluate all existing initiatives related to metadata schemes and related semantics, as well as existing metadata definitions.

  2. Based on part (1), define what the wind energy community actually needs (what is the actual problem that needs solving?).

  3. Solve the problem definitions resulting from step (2) above:

To sign up for this space, you first have to create an account on the WeDoWind ecosystem platform, and then you will receive instructions on signing up for this space.

This challenge is being run via a collaboration between The Swiss Wind Energy R&D Network, IEA Wind Task 31 and Stacker Group.

The exclusive EDP Wind Turbine Failure Detection Challenge that is also currently running on the platform can be accessed separately here. More challenges are on the way! If you are interested in contributing a challenge, please get in touch here:
