Want to keep up-to-date on the latest global research and innovation trends in wind energy Welcome to our new members only webinar series “Wind energy research and innovation insights“! The aim to this webinar series is to report the most recent research and innovation trends from the global market. It will typically involve reports from events or workshops that we or our partners have attended, or international collaborative projects that we have been involved in.
With the increasing importance of wind as a contributor to the global energy mix, the growing industry underpinning this transition presents an opportunity to address many of the imbalances that incumbent energy companies are struggling to retroactively transform. Whilst there has been a lot of talk in recent years about ethnic and gender diversity, there is an urgency for the sector to move from good intentions to practical applications of best practice. The Equal Group was commissioned by the Offshore Wind Industry Council to create a best practice guide specifically touching on practical interventions that wind companies could take to improve their diversity and inclusion outcomes.
Join us for a webinar with a special guest: Dr. Stuart J. Chalk, Professor of Chemical Informatics in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Florida. As a part of IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge webinar series, this event focuses on the intersection of ontology catalogues, metadata, linked data, and wind energy.

Join our webinar with the director of the RDA Association AISBL, Dr Ari Asmi, as we explore the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and the potential of FAIR data to transform the research landscape.
As part of the IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge, we run a series of public webinars that aim to improve collaboration between Knowledge Engineering experts and domain experts in the area of wind energy. This month’s webinar we are joined by Gavin Chait, who will present the newly developed Enqwyre software platform. This platform supports a "no code" method for schema-to-schema data transformations for interoperability, and restructuring messy digital data into user-defined metadata schemas.

According to the 10-year expansion plan 2029, Brazil has ambitious plans to expand offshore wind energy. In the Brazilian Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2020, EPE estimates that a potential of 700 GW exists. However, there are a number of challenges related to implementing this amount of wind energy. One of the largest challenges relates to the technical training of staff. This course takes place online, four hours a day from Monday, March 20th, 2023 until Friday, March 24th, 2023. It covers the topics shown in the graphic below. Each day has a different focus. You can sign up for individual days or the whole course. We recommend attending the whole course in order to get an overview of all the important topics! Each day is split into two different topic areas, and each topic area is split into a one-hour lecture and a one-hour workshop including exercises or discussions. The final part on the Friday includes a panel discussion about the challenges of implementing wind energy in Brazil.
This one-day hybrid workshop will take place at the KV Business School Zurich, Switzerland.. You should attend if you want to learn about the opportunities and challenges related to digitalisation in wind energy, as well as to meet other like-minded people and work on solutions together. You don’t need a background in wind energy or in digitalisation.
As part of the IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge, we run a series of public webinars that aim to improve collaboration between Knowledge Engineering experts and domain experts in the area of wind energy. This month’s webinar is focused on publishing and sharing multi-disciplinary scientific data. We will discuss how open research data repositories like “Bridge of Knowledge” make it possible to share datasets on the web in a sustainable way to increase the availability, consistency and re-use of scientific resources.

The Swiss Wind Energy R&D Network Annual General Meeting 2023 will take place at the OST campus in Rapperswil, Switzerland, as well as online.
As part of the IEA Wind Task 43 Metadata Challenge, we run a series of public webinars that aim to improve collaboration between Knowledge Engineering experts and domain experts in the area of wind energy. In this webinar we will discuss how rich metadata schemes can allow for better designs via optimization under uncertainty. First we will hear from the experience of Julian Quick, postdoctoral researcher at DTU Wind in Denmark, Then we will host a Q&A session focused on transferring knowledge and defining possible future research projects.
Do you ever wonder where the LGBTI community fits into the conversation about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion?
In this webinar we will talk about LGBTI inclusion in the workplace with Martin Proksch, ambassador of the Swiss LGBTI label, Chief Human Resources Officer, Co-founder of Native Genius.
After an introduction on LGBTI topics in general from Sarah Barber, Martin will
Highlight some of the work that has been done on LGBTI inclusion in the workplace,
Outline the business case for diversity and inclusion from a leadership point of view, and
Share what non-inclusion means from a personal perspective.
This webinar will allow participants to change unconscious behanviour through critical thinking and self-reflection. Moreover, we hope it will be a call to action for participants to become allies in building the workplace of the future, where every individual feels a sense of belonging.

Have you ever wondered why people with certain communication styles get promoted or recognised more than others? Why women sometimes get overlooked for promotions due to a purported “lack of confidence”? Or if you disadvantage people through any unconscious communication biases?
In this webinar we discuss how we unconsciously communicate and why this can be very misleading., with a focus on how men and women communicate differently and what we can do to become better in understanding each other.
Do you wonder how new technologies make it out of universities and into use? Or why sometimes startups are successful, and other times they aren’t?
Do you sometimes wonder what all this talk of #BreakThe Bias and “unconscious bias” is all about? Is it really necessary for the wind energy industry? How can it help? Or do you have experience with “unconscious bias” training that you’d like to share? We look forward to a diverse range of inputs, and are open to people from all backgrounds, organisation types, countries and industries.
Are you an entrepreneur, researcher, innovator or organisation wanting to expand into the global wind energy market?
Do you find yourself wondering what all this talk about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is about? If the effort of trying to improve DEI in wind energy really worth it? And what you can even do to help?
The 3rd Annual General Meeting will take place ONLINE on Feb. 9th 2022 from 09:00-10:00 CET. All members are invited.
We are planning this informal wind energy networking event for everyone who is fed up of lockdown and wants to finally meet up. We will of course make sure to adhere to all Corona rules that apply at the time.
